![]() Welcome to WYDE101.Info. You may have found this website looking for WYDE 101.1 ("The Source") or WLGD ("Legends 1260") in Birmingham. There has been quite a bit of traffic through this site during the past few months, so I'll share with you what I know. You may have noticed that both the "Legends 1260" and "Source" websites were dismantled as of June 30. In addition, both stations began airing Christmas music on July 2. On July 5, Crawford Broadcasting, which owns the two stations, dropped WYDE-FM's talk format. "The Source" has changed to a classic hits format, initially known as "Fun 101". Since that time, the station has undergone two different name changes and identities, becoming "Star 101" a day later on July 6; the station now refers to itself as the "new 101". Althought the talk format has been abandoned on 101.1 FM, some of the programming previously heard on "The Source" has now moved to Birmingham's WXJC, AM 850 and FM 92.5. As far as "Legends 1260" goes, it's only been about a year ago since WLGD came on the air with its "real music" adult standards format. WLGD, however, is no more, returning to its former call letters of WYDE and rebroadcasting the "new 101". Anyhow, I thought I'd let everyone know who might be coming through our site here what all was going on with the two stations. Why the site? That's a good question. For those of you reading this page, it's quite possible you found your way here from one of the posts I've placed on radio-info.com. Although I don't work in radio, it has always been one of my favorite hobbies since I was a young boy. However, it has never been able to make me "complete", if you will. So...here are a couple of questions for you. What is most important to you? Is it your spouse? Your family? Your job? Your hobbies? Or maybe even your possessions? Ok...second question. When you die, where will you spend eternity? This is important, so if you read anything on this site, please read this page. Most people have different theories of whether or not we have an eternal resting place like Heaven, but how do any of us know for sure if we're going to get there? Some believe that if we live a good life or if our "good deeds" outweigh our "bad deeds", we will get to Heaven. If we believe that's the case, how can we ever know with certainty we will get to Heaven when we die? How do we know if we will "measure up"? Ok...you might say, "Well, I'm not really a bad person. I don't commit any of the 'big sins' so surely God will let me into Heaven. The Bible says, however, that we all have fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23), and that our "falling short" is manifest through sin. Not only that...but we have to pay for that sin since God is Holy, perfect, and without sin. Part of that payment entails being kept out of Heaven. We cannot even commit ONE sin, as small as it may seem, because, if we do, we will be under God's condemnation. If that's the case and we have to do the impossible (be perfect), how can any of us get to Heaven when we die? Fortunately, God has given us an "escape route". He knows that humans, being imperfect, would never be able to be totally without sin. Therefore, He decided to send His son, Jesus Christ into the world on our behalf. Why did God do that? So that we wouldn't have to pay the penalty for our sins, which is death (see Romans 6:23 below). Jesus Christ took the punishment for OUR sin upon Himself in order that God would be satisfied for the penalty we had to pay. Since Jesus died in our place, God declares us "not guilty". He wipes the "slate clean", not counting our sins against us. Without a personal committment on our part to Jesus Christ, we WILL NOT get to Heaven because we remain under God's condemnation. God has chosen the sacrifice of His son as a means of reconciling us to Himself and allowing us to go to Heaven; God accepts no other substitutes or exceptions. Therefore, Jesus Christ is the ONLY way we will get to heaven. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23) "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him." (John 3:36) Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6) "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son." (John 3:16-18) You might ask yourself, "If the Bible tells us that the only way we can get to Heaven is through Jesus Christ, how do we know that the Bible is true? After all, there are so many theories about how we get to Heaven, how do we know that our trust in Jesus Christ will save us?" Click HERE to know how we can know for sure the Bible is trustworthy in learning about how we can get to Heaven. I invite you to check the facts for yourself. Although I enjoy sharing with you about Birmingham radio, my main focus is to use this site as an evangelistic tool, to share with others about Jesus Christ. Once the "dust settles", so to speak, on this format change for WYDE (i.e. when it becomes "old news"), I intend to change some of the content of this page to share some history on both the original WYDE at 850 AM, and the current WYDE, at 101.1. For some history on AM 1260 (yet another WYDE), please see our other site. This site is not connected in any way with Crawford Broadcasting. Could you tell? :) If you were looking for the official WYDE website, click HERE. Thanks for visiting the site, and God Bless. |
